A native of the Santa Rosa area, celebrity Chef Guy Fieri decided to bring his cooking skills home to help The Salvation Army feed evacuees and responders during the October 2017 wildfires, where Santa Rosa was suffering greatly.

Thousands were fed lunch and dinner at the Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Building. Those who were going through the trauma of such a terrible disaster were treated with pulled pork, mac and cheese and cole slaw. Up to 5,500 people per day were fed. Many local volunteers pitched in to make it all happen.

Then, when the Carr and Mendocino Complex fires hit in July and August of 2018, Mr. Fieri did it again. He brought his Knuckle Sandwich crew up to Shasta College and fed up to 10,000 people per day, before moving on to Lake County.

The Salvation Army considers Chef Fieri and his crew good friends, and we are grateful for their service!

Del Oro Divisional Commander Major Ivan Wild thanks Chef Guy Fieri for feeding hungry evacuees in Santa Rosa.
