12th Annual Helping Handbags Sets a New Record

Oct 21, 2016 | by SF

More than $161,000 was raised at the 12th annual Helping Handbags luncheon and auction.  The total is a new record for the live and silent auction event.

More than 1,300 items were offered during the luncheon, including designer handbags, gently-used purses, donated gift certificates, and items given by local businesses.  Some notable items that will be auctioned off at Helping Handbags include a handbag donated by Linda Ronstadt and a gift package from the Ellen Show.

The successful event has been coordinated by The Salvation Army’s Women’s Auxiliary, which is made up of a group of local business women who believe in the mission of The Salvation Army, and volunteer their time and financial support to develop fundraising events like Helping Handbags.

Proceeds from Helping Handbags will go toward Salvation Army’s programs for women and children in the Sacramento area.
