California Backyard collecting donated holiday trees for Salvation Army Christmas programs
California Backyard, a local company which specializes in selling high performance outdoor products, will kick off its seventh annual “Give-A-Tree” Christmas tree donation collection, starting November 4. The four California Backyard stores in the Sacramento region (Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova, Roseville and Sacramento) will collect any donated artificial Christmas trees and tree decorations from customers until December 16.
All of the donated trees will be distributed to families receiving Christmas assistance from The Salvation Army of Sacramento County and South Placer County. Last year, more than 500 trees were distributed.
“Once again, California Backyard is proud to partner with The Salvation Army for the seventh annual Give-A-Tree donation campaign,” said Buzz Homsy, owner of California Backyard. “I’m so happy to know this campaign the donated trees will provide some Christmas cheers to many local families.”
For each customer who donates an artificial Christmas tree, California Backyard will give an additional 10% off the purchase of a new pre-lit Everfresh tree. All stores will accept tree donations, but the tree itself must be in a box with no missing parts.
"Many thanks to California Backyard and its customers for supporting the Give-A-Tree program,” said Major Ivan Wild, Salvation Army Divisional Commander. “We know those donated trees will add so much more the holiday experience to the families we’re assisting this Christmas season.”
