The Salvation Army to Consolidate Adult Rehabilitation Centers in Northern California

Sacramento explores new housing opportunity for growing programs

Sacramento, CA— Due to a number of factors, the decision has been made to consolidate the Sacramento Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) with Stockton’s existing ARC. The program offers no-fee, six-month, residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation services to men struggling with addiction. We believe this change is necessary to maximize the effectiveness of both our finances and properties.

While the Sacramento ARC will no longer accept new men into the program, those who have not completed their rehabilitation by October 1st will be transferred to existing Stockton, Fresno, Bakersfield, or Oakland programs.

The Salvation Army in Sacramento is looking into the possibility of using the men’s residence building to house other growing programs in the area, like our Workforce Development Programs which provide construction and culinary training.

Because the Sacramento ARC is funded by the sale of donated goods at Family Thrift Stores, stores in Sacramento, Woodland, Auburn, and Grass Valley will close. Family Thrift Stores in Marysville and Rancho Cordova will remain open. In the meantime, operations will remain the same at Sacramento area Family Thrift Stores.

Employees who do not find other jobs at Salvation Army programs will receive severance pay and assistance in finding other employment.

Income generated from the sales of the Sacramento ARC and thrift store buildings will be used to make improvements to the Stockton ARC and to support other ARC programs and services.

The Salvation Army is here to stay in Sacramento. We continue to serve the community with a wide number of impactful programs; Center of Hope Shelter, Transitional Living Center, Family Services, Workforce Development Programs, food box assistance, Emergency/Disaster Services, Christmas assistance programs, worship, and community centers and camps.
